Firm: Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, Shanghai representative office

 

Position: Intern(full-time / part-time)

 

Opening Date: Early March 2017

 

Duration: 6 to 12 months

 

Key responsibilities:

· Working with lawyers in both the corporate and disputes teams,assisting mainly with legal research and drafting;

· Helping to keep our lawyers updated with new laws and regulations;and

· Providing support for business development initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

· Second-year Master Degree candidate (applicants who are not currentlyenrolled in a PRC university will not be considered);

· Good academic grades;

· Satisfaction of each of the work-based and behavioural competenciesset out below;

· A genuine commitment to perform as a part of a team for the duration of the internship.

Work-based competencies:

· Excellent English, both oral and written;

· Good command of the modern Chinese language;

· Superior analytical and reasoning skills;

· Superior legal research skills;

· An eye for detail;

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

 

Behavioural competencies:

· Committed to excellence and a high standard of performance and collegiality;

· Takes initiative with work;

· Willing and able to work both independently and as part of a team;

· Excellent interpersonal communication skills;

· Able to multi-task and juggle conflicting priorities;
