The Office of Denmark’s Tech Ambassador is looking for a talented Tech Assistant who can support the work of the Tech & Digitalisation Advisor in Beijing, China. You will be based out of the Danish Embassy in Beijing as locally employed part of the global setup under the Tech Ambassador.

 

About us 

The Office of the Tech Ambassador has a global mandate and a physical presence across three time zones in North America, Europe and Asia. On behalf of the Danish government, we work to build new strategic networks and engage in dialogue with tech-hubs, governments, international organizations and other stakeholders. We explore how new technologies can help address global challenges in the 21st Century. We spearhead and promote digital and technological developments as a priority across Danish foreign policy and in key sectors.

 

About the position :

As the Beijing-based Tech Assistant, you will work directly with and support the Tech & Digitalisation Advisor in China. You will be front and centre of the rollout of the TechPlomacy initiative. You will help spearhead activities to engage other countries, tech giants, start-ups, universities, civil society, cities and regions with valuable insights in this field. You will also be part of a new kind of diplomatic representation with a global mandate and team.

 

TECH ASSISTANT Denmark’s Tech Ambassador | BEIJING

 

Your specific tasks will include:

- Provide academic, logistical, language and cultural support and expertise to the Tech and Digi-talisation Advisor.

- Project pipeline and execution of new ideas Help administer specific projects under the TechPlomacy initiative.

- Ensure smooth communication and planning within the global team.

- Facilitate good cooperation and information sharing between the Tech setup and other teams at the Embassy in Beijing in order to maximise synergies.

- Assist in reporting to authorities in Copenhagen in close collaboration with the rest of the tech team and the Embassy

- Preparation of high-level visits and delegation visits as well as planning of events and meetings. Some travel activity should be expected.

- Strategic communication and use of different media platforms to reach target audiences.

 

You will be part of the team of the Tech Ambassador in Silicon Valley while also feeding into and supporting the work of the Embassy in Beijing and the Danish Innovation Centre in Shanghai on technological and digital developments.

 

About you

- Fluency in English and Chinese (mandarin) a prerequisite.

- Relevant degree in international relations, social sciences, economy, technology, engineering or another relevant education.

- A solid understanding of and interest in Chinese politics and society as well as regional dynamics in Asia.

- Great intercultural skills, including excellent communication skills in English. A sound under-standing of strategic communication through different platforms to different target groups.

- A positive, open-minded and pro-active approach to new and varying tasks and the ability to work independently as well as in teams

- Readiness to work in a dynamic work environment across several time zones and with a differing workflow. Flexibility during peak periods are expected.

 

Prior work experience in relevant fields is an asset but not a requirement. We value drive, spirit and creativity as high as a long CV.

 

Salary and benefits :

The position is a locally employed full-time position based at the Danish Em-bassy in Beijing. Your salary and benefits package will be based on the Danish Missions in China “Local Salary Policy” and will reflect your personal level of experience and professional qualifications.
